Samantha Heinly, LCSW-S, PMH-C
I deeply believe that women, moms, and caregivers are the backbone of our communities - and often the most overlooked. If we want our future generations to be “well” we must first prioritize and lift up the caretakers of that future.
My practice is a supportive space dedicated to your mental wellness journey. I focus on foundational skills, such as building healthy communication, mastering boundary setting, and prioritizing self-care, so you can leave each session feeling empowered to confidently create the future you envision for yourself and your family.
I do not believe that one type of therapy fits with everyone, so I utilize a variety of therapeutic models during my work with clients. Currently, I most often reach for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I am in the process of EMDR training and would love to support you in re-processing early childhood experiences, general anxieties, and traumas (big ‘T’ and little ‘t’!) that impact your daily functioning. After our work together ends, my clients are more able to trust themselves and lean on their own coping skills to continue to manage life’s stressors.
My professional path has been dedicated to improving outcomes for women and perinatal populations since earning my Master of Social Work from the University of Houston in 2018. My background includes extensive work in substance use recovery treatment and specialized training in providing culturally competent, affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals. After the birth of my own son in 2023, I learned first hand just how important mental health support is throughout pregnancy and in the postpartum period. Even as a professional, I recognized that I needed to grow my support networks in order to navigate the challenges of becoming a mother. I then renewed my efforts from my education and became Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) through Postpartum International in 2024.
Outside of the office, I am often found chasing a rambunctious and curious 2-year-old, exploring new restaurants and craft breweries with my husband, or working on my latest craft project (cross stitch, quilting, or knitting). I do my best to implement the things I have learned in my own therapy and take time out for myself to practice good self care, grounding, and connect with the people I love.
I have a special interest/training/certification in: Certified in Perinatal Mental Health through PSI Gottman Level II Trained LGBTQ+ affirming therapy trained and experienced EMDR training and seeking certification.
